Job Summary:
The Politics Department at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time, non-continuing faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences in political theory. Appointment to this position will be for a term of two years, beginning fall 2025, and will carry the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor of Politics and Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow.
Responsibilities:
The fellow will teach a total of two courses in the first year and three courses in the second year of the appointment, in the general area of contemporary political theory. We seek to complement faculty and curriculum in the history of political thought and anticolonial thought; applicants whose expertise can address American political thought, feminist theory and/or environmental theory are encouraged to apply.
The fellow will participate in the intellectual life of the department (attend lectures and other events, teaching workshops, etc.), and will participate in mentoring responsibilities for students interested in political theory.Required qualifications:
Among the qualifications required for appointment is the Ph.D. degree from a U.S. university awarded no earlier than 2022 but in hand by 1 July 2025. Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable. Compensation:
Within the range established for this position, salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a competitive benefits package.
