Job Description



This position is responsible for all Carrier meetings, review and selection to maximize best freight route and delivery cost, while maximizing customer satisfaction. This position will actively seek out cost reductions and improvements in the shipping processing of orders. This position will be the internal Point of contact with Customer care on matters related to On-time delivery of shipments and any needed changes to the process.

Qualifications



QUALIFICATIONS

:

Education:

  • High school diploma required

Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years directly related experience preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience using an electronic inventory management system a plus.
  • Experience shipping a technically complex product to customers both nationally (required) and internationally.
  • Experience working with transportation carriers/dispatchers.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of ERP, MRP and Master Planning systems required.
  • Ability to interact with managers, customers and vendors at all levels respectfully and effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong self-starter and team player
  • Strong drive for results and continuous improvement

ESSENTIAL RESULTS :

  • Examine and Create manifests, invoices, orders or bill of lading to verify accuracy of all outgoing domestic and international shipments.
  • Documents physical state of units prior to loading on transportation carrier for specialized equipment shipments.
  • Responsible for scheduling all outgoing truck and pickup/delivery schedules.
  •  Provides domestic air and truck quotes for customer care and sales
  • Maintain a shipping log for easy information retrieval.
  • Initiate contact with trucking companies to research favorable freight rates, resolve discrepancies and ensure quality service and on time deliveries.
  • Execute export duties for international and domestic shipments.
  • Monitors timing of customer requirements, updates tracking database, and processes ticket requests.
  • Interacts with manufacturing cross-functional groups regarding the preparation and status of finished goods required for customer shipments.
  • Create all required documentation for shipment in compliance with any and all applicable federal and state laws for shipping.
  • Performs other duties as needed for the effective operation of the department.
  • Effective communication skills (written/verbal) with personnel from all departments.
  • Attention to detail/Able to handle high volume of work

  • Organization skills/perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Computer skills utilizing shipping software
  • Can operate IFS system for order assignments, delivery notes and tracking numbers
  • Understanding of NMFC codes
  • Aware of the Quality & Environmental Policies & Objectives and understand your role & contribution towards these goals and how activities in your area contribute towards these objectives.
  • QMS & EMS Master List – aware where to find documented policies, procedures & instructions 
  • Aware of Significant Environmental Aspects & Impacts (Environmental MGT System)
  • Understand Environmental Compliance obligations & implications for non-complying.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer (constant computer-based work).
  • Occasionally entering plant/warehouse (can range in temperature, humidity and dust levels).
  • Must be able to lift up to 0-30 lbs.
  • Must be able to wear required safety PPE.
