Claremont Graduate University
PART-TIME/ADJUNCT FACULTY
2025-2026
Overview
Claremont Graduate University's Teacher Education Program is seeking adjunct faculty to join a small, collaborative team committed to preparing anti-racist, love-soaked, and humanizing teachers for students in our local communities. To enact our values and vision, we have developed Critical Social Justice Competencies that guide our faculty's and students' teaching practices, we elevate scholarship and experiences of diverse voices, and we center collective wellness and community in everything we do. We know that the act of teaching is not social justice if we are not teaching in ways that honor our students and communities. We operate from the premise that schools are not neutral because they contain and reflect the inequities deeply and structurally embedded within our nation. While of course we support our students in becoming excellent teachers, we also support them in understanding the landscape so they can:
Actively seek and make change that disrupts inhumane, unjust, and inequitable patterns and practices.
Affirm and empower students (households, communities, colleagues, and ourselves) to harness the resources needed to navigate an unjust world with empathy, savvy, and agency.
Dismantle systems and practices of oppression and reimagine love-soaked, empowering ecologies.
CGU offers a joint MA/credential program with fully-online, synchronous coursework alongside a Residency, in which candidates are placed in the classroom of a mentor teacher for an entire school year, or an Internship, in which candidates work as the teacher of record. Our adjunct professors are core members of our scholarfamilia, working alongside the leadership team to enact the kinds of educational experiences that students and communities deserve.
Position
CGU's Teacher Education Program is generating an applicant pool of part-time, adjunct faculty to teach graduate-level courses in our teacher preparation programs and/or work with our leadership team to support candidates' academic and/or clinical development for the 2025-2026 school year.
For academic courses, depending on applicants' teaching experience and fluency with Critical Social Justice, we often ask adjuncts to spend one (compensated) semester observing and teaching alongside a core faculty member before taking on a full course. All courses are taught online in synchronous, interactive Zoom sessions.
For clinical coursework, applicants' eligibility will be determined by their credential area, teaching and educational leadership experience, and familiarity with culturally responsive pedagogy.
Screening of applications will begin immediately and continue on an ongoing basis until anticipated needs are met. We are currently seeking candidates for the Summer and Fall of 2025. Please see below for potential openings, qualifications, and responsibilities:
