Overview

Mastercard Services is our professional services and solutions arm, providing customers with value-added services to enhance business performance and consumer experiences. Our diverse Services portfolio includes payments consulting, marketing, analytics and data insights, security solutions, open banking, and more.

The Services Business Development team is looking for a Managing Consultant to drive growth of our value-added services within Emerging Verticals. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of selling to senior executives, navigating matrixed organizations, and utilizing solution-based selling to drive clear value for customers.

Role

Deliver against sales targets for the Services portfolio of solutions across a set of existing and net-new accounts within Emerging Verticals, which may include insurance, telco, fitness, education, ISVs, and more

Manage and expand relationships with client stakeholders, developing trust to enable intimate discussions on client goals and needs; surfacing Services revenue opportunities

Translate client challenges into hypotheses and structure large/complex engagements with imperfect information; leverage deep knowledge of all Mastercard Services capabilities to structure innovative solutions and strategic bundles

Lead internal partners to develop formal and informal pitch materials; ensuring succinct, persuasive content tailored to audience & seniority

Deliver compelling, high-impact pitches, showcasing leadership, expertise and alignment to client needs

Drive intel back into Services & broader Mastercard; supporting the feedback loop that drives Services innovation

About The Role

Software Engineers at Mastercard design and code artificial intelligence, cloud, and machine learning platforms that provide mission-critical insights to many of the world’s leading organizations and governments. As a Software Engineer, you will deliver these products and solutions with speed and agility as part of a small team. This will involve developing high-performing, highly scalable software solutions and products for some of the world’s top brands. Specific tasks vary depending on the project and the business unit that you join in.

  • Own tasks (dev, test, deployment) at an application/software component level
  • Able to troubleshoot and refactor existing code
  • Adopt new languages and architecture patterns needed for the work
  • Influence the decisions made by the team
  • Assist peers and less experienced members

  • Has strong programming skills in three or more languages (e.g., C, C+, C#,

Java, JavaScript, SQL); familiar with secure coding standards (e.g., OWASP,

CWE, SEI CERT) and vulnerability management

  • Understands and implements standard branching (e.g., Gitflow) and peer

review practices; Apply tools (e.g., Sonar, Zally, Checkmarx) and techniques

to scan and measure code quality and anti-patterns as part of development

activity; understands and builds test code at the unit level, service level, and

integration level to ensure code and functional coverage

  • Understand the basic tenets of building and running mission-critical software

Capabilities (security, Customer Experience, Testing, Operability, Simplification,

service-oriented architecture)

  • Understand different application patterns to implement different types of

business processes (e.g., APIs, event-driven-services, batch-services, web-

applications, microservices); understands secure network protocols to protect

data in transit (e.g., IPSec, TLS, PGP, others)

  • Understands Continuous Integration (CI) and Delivery (CD) concepts and

capabilities to support automation, pipelines, virtualization, and

containerization; Aware of configuration management using tools (e.g.,

Puppet, Chef) and CI/CD tools (e.g., Artifactory, Jenkins, Git, Sonar)

  • Follows Mastercard testing standards; has skills to author test cases

leveraging behavior-driven development and customer journey concepts;

understand the organization of testing artifacts (e.g., test folders, sets, runs)

  • Some experience developing automated test suites, including unit testing,

automated functional or end-to-end tests, and performance testing

  • Understand functional and non-functional testing types and elaborate and

estimate test efforts; understand how to build robust tests to minimize defect

leakage by performing regression, performance, deployment verification, and

release testing
