Job Description

Duties

As a Lead Archives Technician, you will:

  • Direct and oversee a crew of employees who assist incumbent in processing, data entry, and labeling of incoming OPF/EMFs.
  • Provide advice and guidance on specific techniques and/or directs employees to reference or guidance materials as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison and consensus builder for the team.
  • Assist in the preparation of analytical and descriptive finding aids, inventories and other guides.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.   • A one year probationary period may be required.

  • The incumbent must be physically able to perform the duties of this position. The work requires climbing caster-equipped ladders handling thereon boxes of records weighing up to 50 pounds that are stored up to 15 or 16 feet above the floor. The incumbent may be required to use specialized ladders or motorized lifts to access records stored up to 20 feet above the floor. The work also involves considerable standing, walking, stooping, bending, stretching and lifting.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.



Specialized Experience for the GS-05 grade level is defined as one year of experience at the GS-04 grade level, or equivalent, that is typically in or related to the position and which equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience:


Maintaining or utilizing database information for research purposes; AND
Reviewing files or documents for completeness and compliance with established guidelines; AND
Communicating, verbally or in writing, to a particular audience.



OR

Education: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 4 years above high school.



OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
