Job Title: Specimen Processor
Job Description Join a dynamic team where you will contribute to the efficient processing and management of laboratory specimens. This role offers the opportunity to enhance your skills in a high-capacity, regulated lab environment.
Responsibilities - Assist in maintaining supplies, helping with inventory, and placing orders.
- Manage client test results according to established procedures.
- Utilize the electronic health record (EHR), laboratory information system (LIS), client software (web portal), and the email system to efficiently complete daily tasks.
- Monitor test pending logs using the laboratory information system (LIS) and communicate with technical staff to ensure testing is not delayed.
- Perform all specimen processing functions to receive and process specimens according to laboratory protocol.
- Conduct urine collections for urine drug screens and complete proper paperwork.
- Operate laboratory equipment for which applicable training and supervisor approval have been received.
Essential Skills - Experience with centrifuges and specimen processing.
- Proficiency in accessioning and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR Certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications - High School diploma required.
- 6+ months of lab experience.
Work Environment Work in the central lab within a level 1 trauma center. The position requires working night shifts from 2300 to 0730, Monday through Friday, with every other weekend required. This environment offers a chance to develop expertise in laboratory operations.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
