Job Description

We are seeking a Junior SCADA Engineer to support the hands-on integration, installation, and maintenance of SCADA systems across water and wastewater facilities in the Pittsburgh area. This role emphasizes electrical panel wiring , PLC programming , and fieldwork using Rockwell Automation technologies. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and comfortable working on-site at treatment plants and control system installations.

Key Responsibilities

Panel Wiring & Field Installation:

• Assist in wiring, assembling, and troubleshooting control panels based on electrical schematics.
• Support installation and commissioning of PLCs, HMIs, and I/O modules at field locations.
• Conduct point-to-point wiring checks and assist in start-up activities for SCADA-controlled equipment.

Rockwell & SCADA Configuration:

• Work with senior engineers to program and test Allen-Bradley PLCs using RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000 .
• Assist in configuring Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) using Rockwell's FactoryTalk View or AVEVA software.
• Aid in integrating Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and field devices with central SCADA systems.

Testing, Troubleshooting, & Support:

• Perform on-site testing, diagnostics, and support during system installation and upgrades.
• Troubleshoot issues with wiring, I/O signals, and communication links between SCADA components.

Documentation & Collaboration:

• Update wiring diagrams and redline as-builts during commissioning.
• Maintain clear records of configuration files, equipment settings, and installation checklists.
• Coordinate with project managers, electricians, and control engineers during field operations.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related field.
• 1 3 years of relevant experience in industrial controls, panel wiring, or SCADA environments (internship or co-op experience considered).

Technical Skills:

• Hands-on experience with wiring control panels, interpreting schematics, and basic loop testing.
• Familiarity with Rockwell PLCs (Allen-Bradley) and industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
• Exposure to SCADA platforms such as FactoryTalk, AVEVA InTouch, or similar.

Soft Skills:

• Eagerness to learn in a team-based environment.
• Strong work ethic, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills with the ability to follow direction in field settings.

Additional Requirements:

• Must be able to work on-site across facilities in the Pittsburgh region.
• Ability to lift 25+ pounds, climb ladders, and work in industrial plant environments.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
