Project Overview:
We're seeking a skilled and experienced attorney to join us on a remote, part-time project focused on developing practical legal resources. This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your expertise in healthcare regulatory law to create valuable "how-to" guides, forms, checklists, and legal analyses.
Project Details:
Start Date: March 2025
Duration: 3 months, with the potential for extension
Compensation: $45 per hour
Location: Fully remote
Hours: 10-20 hours per week
Responsibilities:
Develop comprehensive "how-to" practice notes, forms, checklists, and legal analyses covering a range of healthcare regulatory topics.
Areas of focus may include, but are not limited to, licensing, governance, healthcare fraud, anti-kickback statutes, the False Claims Act (FCA), Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements, and other compliance-based legal matters.
Draft original content and enhance existing documents by incorporating up-to-date information derived from case law, statutes, regulations, industry customs, and your own practical experience.
Conduct thorough taxonomy and language analysis to ensure clarity and accuracy in all materials.
Contribute to the creation of easily understandable legal guides for fellow professionals.
Potentially contribute to newsletters or magazine articles.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing healthcare regulatory law.
Demonstrated expertise in drafting legal materials within the healthcare, hospital, and health systems sector, specifically focusing on regulatory, transactional, and compliance matters.
Strong understanding of health law issues, including licensing, governance, healthcare fraud, anti-kickback statutes, the False Claims Act (FCA), Medicare, and Medicaid.
Proven ability to create practical legal guides and conduct detailed legal analysis.
Experience in content editing or legal publishing (e.g., trade journals, magazines, law firm newsletters) is highly advantageous.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in legal research and online research tools.
Comfort and skill in using Microsoft Word, including track changes, and Microsoft Excel.
Familiarity with the entire Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of Compliance functions.
Understanding of HealthCare.gov, Medicare, and Medicaid.
Experience in conducting surveys and handling licensing issues.
Experience in drafting newsletters and handling reimbursements.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
Familiarity with Transactional operations.
Ability to create and manage Checklists.
