About the Role
Are you a detail-oriented attorney with a passion for healthcare regulatory law and legal content creation? We are seeking a Freelance Healthcare Regulatory Attorney to develop practical, how-to legal resources, including practice notes, forms, checklists, and in-depth legal analysis. This role is ideal for a legal professional who enjoys writing, research, and helping others navigate complex legal topics.
In this role, you will cover a broad range of subjects, including artificial intelligence in healthcare, software licensing, cloud computing, compliance, and regulatory matters within hospitals and health systems. Your work will involve drafting new materials, reviewing and updating existing content, and ensuring accuracy and clarity based on relevant case law, statutes, regulations, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Develop comprehensive legal guides, practice notes, and templates covering healthcare regulatory topics.
Research and analyze laws, regulations, and industry standards related to healthcare compliance, transactional matters, and technology.
Update and enhance existing legal documents with relevant legal insights.
Provide clear, practical, and well-structured guidance on complex legal matters.
Conduct legal research using reputable online resources.
Collaborate with internal teams to refine and improve content.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Law degree from an accredited law school.
Bar Admission: Licensed to practice law in the United States, with active state bar membership in good standing.
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in healthcare regulatory law with expertise in compliance, licensing, governance, healthcare fraud (Anti-Kickback/FCA), Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements, and related areas.
Legal Writing & Publishing: Previous experience drafting legal publications, trade journal articles, law firm newsletters, or other professional legal content is highly preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word (track changes), Excel, and familiarity with conducting legal research online.
Communication Skills: Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
Project Management: Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple assignments efficiently.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with healthcare compliance functions, including HealthCare.gov, Medicare, Medicaid, and reimbursement regulations.
Experience conducting surveys and handling licensing issues.
Knowledge of transactional operations and ability to draft legal checklists.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
