The City of Chillicothe Civil Service Commission is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the following positions:


FIREFIGHTER
FIRE DEPARTMENT
Salary: $56,828 - $81,935
Lateral Entries will be considered.
APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED: February 12th - March 15th, 2025

Applications along with a resume must be submitted to HR, no later than 4:30 P.M. on closing date.


Credit will be given for submission of your Firefighter II, EMT, and Paramedic certifications.
Credit will be given for submission of your DD214 showing discharge as "honorable" or under honorable conditions.

In order to be considered applicants will be required to take an exam through National Testing Network between February 12th and March 15th, 2025. Our Physical Ability Exam will be held on Saturday March 22, 2025. NTN Firefighter Mile Card will also be accepted within 6 months of its completion
NATURE OF WORK: Performs skilled firefighting work in combatting, extinguishing and preventing fires; answering emergency call; and in the operation and routine custodial maintenance of fire department equipment, apparatus, quarters, and grounds.


REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Must be at least 18 years of age (but not past forty-first birthday) at time of hiring.
Must possess/maintain a valid Ohio Driver's License as a condition of employment.
Must pass a background check.
Must remain insurable under the City's Insurance Policy.
Must pass physical examination and extensive cardio pulmonary stress tests.*
Must complete psychological examination*.
Must live within a 50 mile radius of Station One.
Must successfully complete and maintain Ohio Firefighter II, Ohio EMT Basic, Hazardous Materials Technician and Ohio EMT Paramedic certification after appointment.
*Physical ability assessment and psychological exam to be scheduled at a later date for candidates certified as eligible.
