The
Fashion Designer creates clothing, accessories, and product categories that are on-trend and appeal to consumers. With a focus on headwear and apparel, he/she designs multiple consumer products and creates merchandising and marketing campaigns to support product launches. He/She uses their artistic and technical skills to blend current trends with consumer desires, and to create designs that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
Job Responsibilities - Research trends : Study fashion trends and anticipate what will be popular with consumers
- Create designs : Use computer-aided design (CAD) programs or sketch designs by hand
- Product marketing : Create product marketing collateral for digital ads (email, mobile, homepage, and social)
- Select materials : Choose fabrics, colors, embellishments, and styles for each garment or accessory
- Create prototypes : Work with other designers to create prototype designs
- Present designs : Present design ideas to creative directors, retailers, customers, or vendors
- Manage production : Oversee the final production of their designs
- Communicate : Communicate with team members, supervisors, and others to provide information and establish working relationships
- Solve problems : Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
Job Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in design, fine arts, fashion design or related field
- 4+ years of design experience
- Must be highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently
- Must have ability to ideate and innovate in product selection, staying ahead of trends and customer preferences
- Must possess excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the manager, vendors, and internal teams
- 2+ years of e-commerce and product design experience is ideal
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis
- Strong understanding of market trends, consumer behavior, and the retail landscape
