Are you in?Primary Purpose:

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Interacts with professional land surveyors and engineers by utilizing various software and equipment to produce electronic data and hard copy drawings. Completes more difficult assignments and assists lower-level drafting technicians. Maintains, stores and manipulates electronic data. Note: Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24x7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Primary Duties:

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Update electric and gas facility maps using MicroStation ,lrasB and GIS (G/Tech) (50%)
• Utilize Asset Suite 8 to research affected documents (pending map updates) with all associated EC's (engineering changes). (15%) 
• Verify as-built information by performing field investigations (15%) 
• Maintain all CAD drawings for BGE Electric Construction Standards (10%) 
• Emergency response support for storms. Storms duties include dispatching screeners, or screening to report filed conditions, with face-to-face interaction and notification with customers. Also, particular emergency response meetings and drills, review procedures as necessary. (10%)

Job Scope: JOB SCOPE

Day-to-day supervisory responsibilities are minimal, if any. Work leadership is limited to coordinating survey drafting efforts in completing activities under the direction of the Manager Mapping. Internal and external contact relationships require tact, cooperation, and minimum deviation from standard practices or the making of incidental adjustments to methodology to facilitate service. The nature of these relationships is to provide technical support regarding drafting associated with survey mapping. Work consists of generally related activities. Decision making authority is related to completion of assignment related to a project. Some initiative and judgment is required in determining appropriate course of action within established guidelines. Work subject to review by the Manager Mapping.

Minimum Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent and 5 - 7 year's experience in mechanical drawing and/or drafting, with at least three years in computer aided drafting (CAD)
• Advanced computer aided drafting capabilities
• Ability to complete complicated drawings
• Proficient in AutoCad
