Location: Hyattsville, MD (Local Candidates Only)
Salary Range: $150,000 – $175,000

About the Role

We’re seeking an innovative, forward-thinking, and hands-on Head of Operations to lead day-to-day functions and help drive long-term growth for a dynamic cold storage and mobile distribution business in Hyattsville, MD .

As Head of Operations, you’ll be the engine behind our success—guiding people, improving systems, deepening client partnerships, and expanding high-impact business lines like mobile ice cream distribution and cash-and-carry operations .

This is not a back-office leadership role. You’ll be on the floor, in the details, and shaping the future —with the autonomy and authority to build, improve, and scale.

We’re looking for a strategic operator who thrives on continuous improvement, embraces challenge, and knows how to lead people while building systems that fuel growth. This is a local-only opportunity —we are not relocating for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Daily Operations: Conduct walkthroughs, oversee staff, and ensure operational excellence across our cold storage and distribution lines.

  • Build a Culture of Excellence: Set the tone for integrity, accountability, and a team-first environment. Be a visible, approachable leader.

  • Enhance Systems: Streamline inventory, vendor, and fulfillment processes. Evaluate current tools and implement improvements that drive scale and reduce inefficiencies.

  • Grow the Business: Expand our mobile and retail ice cream distribution channels. Identify new markets, build customer relationships, and create repeatable growth strategies.

  • Own Financial Performance: Oversee P&L, AR/AP, and budgeting. Track KPIs and work with ownership to meet and exceed performance targets.

  • Develop Talent: Mentor and train staff, build organizational redundancy, and ensure your team has the structure and support to thrive.

  • Strategic Planning: Work closely with ownership to shape the future of the business—identify opportunities, manage risk, and drive operational innovation.

  • Ensure Facility Readiness: Partner with facilities and compliance leaders to maintain a high-functioning, safe, and audit-ready operation.

  • A proven operator with experience in logistics, warehouse, cold storage, or food service distribution

  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with inventory and financial management tools

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in operational leadership (preferably in cold storage, distribution, or warehouse environments)

  • Strong P&L ownership experience

  • MBA or business training preferred (strategy, financials, team development)

  • Deep knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory systems, and team management

  • Comfortable managing across multiple priorities: logistics, customer service, staffing, and compliance

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

  • Experience in retail, cash-and-carry, or mobile distribution a plus

  • Local to Hyattsville, MD – we are not relocating for this role
