Fluent is seeking a Director, Communications & Events to elevate how our brand shows up across the industry, through compelling storytelling, high-impact events, and standout brand experiences. This role brings together communications strategy and experiential marketing to ensure Fluent’s presence across channels and stages reflects our voice, values, and leadership in the market.

Working closely with the SVP of Marketing, this individual will execute an integrated communications and events strategy that amplifies Fluent’s story, drives awareness, and builds meaningful connections with our audiences through experiences that inspire and engage.

This role brings together brand experience, communications, and event strategy to ensure Fluent’s presence across the industry is cohesive, creative, and impactful.

What You'll Do

Events & Brand Experiences

  • Lead the planning and execution of Fluent-hosted events — including summits, showcases, and roundtables that deepen engagement with our customers, partners, and industry community.
  • Partner with the SVP of Marketing to define the annual tradeshow calendar and executive participation roadmap.
  • Oversee pre-event promotion, live experiences, and post-event storytelling to ensure brand consistency and measurable impact.
  • Manage event vendors, budgets, and logistics to deliver exceptional on-brand experiences.
  • Identify and secure speaking engagements, sponsorships, and partnerships that enhance Fluent’s thought leadership and visibility.
  • Coordinate and support customer, partner, and executive event activations — including board meetings — delivering seamless, high-impact experiences.

Brand & Communications

  • Execute Fluent’s communications calendar across PR, thought leadership, and event-related storytelling.
  • Drive media coverage, announcements, and executive visibility opportunities.
  • Develop messaging frameworks, speaker briefs, and communication toolkits to ensure consistency across channels.
  • Partner with the Brand Design team to ensure all experiences and communications reflect Fluent’s visual and verbal identity.
  • Support brand moments and narratives that connect events and campaigns to broader market trends.

Collaboration & Execution

  • Partner cross-functionally with Marketing Operations, Sales, and Product teams to align storytelling and market engagement.
  • Coordinate with agency and vendor partners to extend creative and operational capacity.
  • Track and report performance across communications and events, identifying insights and opportunities for optimization.
  • Manage and mentor an event marketing manager, who leads logistics and project timeliness.
  • Lead agency, contractor, and vendor relationships to extend capabilities.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Marketing Operations, Sales, Product, and Customer Success to align storytelling and market engagement.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in communications, brand marketing, and/or event strategy, preferably in B2B or digital marketing industries.
  • Proven success leading integrated communications and experiential marketing programs that drive brand awareness and engagement.
  • Strong background in planning and overseeing large-scale events, including conferences, tradeshows, and executive-level gatherings.
  • Demonstrated experience managing public relations, media outreach, and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Track record of developing and maintaining strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and speaking opportunities.
  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, and external agencies to deliver high-quality brand and event experiences.
  • Prior experience managing and mentoring direct reports and cross-functional project team
