We are seeking a proactive and strategic Data Governance Manager to lead our data governance function, actively contributing to the development and evolution of the Relias Platform (Relias’s SaaS product) and the Relias Intelligence Hub (our Data Lakehouse and AI engine). This role will ensure high data quality, consistency, and compliance with industry regulations, working closely with engineering and product teams to deliver tangible improvements across the platform. The ideal candidate will move beyond theoretical governance practices and directly impact platform capabilities, enabling data-driven decision-making and enhancing operational efficiencies. 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Data Governance Framework: Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance framework that directly supports the Relias Platform's development. Establish and enforce data management policies that align with platform needs, business goals, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Data Model Standardization: Work closely with technical teams to standardize data models across the platform. Enforce consistent definitions for key shared attributes (e.g., “Audience”) to support platform interoperability and seamless data integration. 
  • Active Contribution to Platform Development: Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and cross-functional teams to ensure data governance practices contribute to the continuous development and improvement of the Relias Platform. Ensure data models, definitions, and processes are integrated into platform workflows to drive consistency and efficiency. 
  • Data Quality and Metrics: Implement tools and processes to monitor and report on data quality within the platform, and enhance data management practices. Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the impact of data governance initiatives on platform performance, driving continuous improvements in data accuracy and consistency. 
  • Data Democratization: Work with IT and BI teams to facilitate secure, self-service access to governed data on the platform. Enable business users to confidently leverage platform data while ensuring compliance with governance policies, fostering a data-driven culture. 
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure platform data practices comply with relevant regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR). Identify data-related risks within platform workflows and collaborate with Legal, IT, and Compliance teams to mitigate these risks through governance controls. 

YOU’VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES IF YOU HAVE/ARE:

  • Data Governance and Standards : Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, policies, and best practices. 
  • Data Model and Metadata Management : Experience defining and managing data models and metadata for consistent usage across systems. 
  • Data Quality and Metrics : Proficiency in establishing and monitoring data quality KPIs, with experience in implementing tools to track data integrity. 
  • Data Governance Tools : Experience with data governance technologies, including data catalogs, lineage tracking, and quality monitoring platforms. 
  • Data Access and Democratization : Knowledge of enabling secure self-service access to governed data while maintaining compliance. 
  • Regulatory Compliance : Familiarity with data privacy and security regulations such as HIPAA and GDPR. 
  • Cross-functional Collaboration : Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. 
  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field, with a proven track record of implementing governance frameworks and tools. 
  • Bachelor’s degree 


IT WOULD BE IDEAL IF YOU HAVE/ARE:  

  • Master’s degree in relevant field 
  • Experience in healthcare or e-learning industries is a plus.

Our flexible hybrid work environment requires that you live in the state of North Carolina, within a commutable distance to our office (~1-hour commute). You would be expected to work in our Morrisville, NC Headquarters approximately 30 days/quarter.
