Job Description

Bellas Bake Shop in Mount Kisco, NY is looking for associate bakers to join our strong efficient team. We are located on 69 S Moger Ave. Our ideal candidate is attentive, motivated, and hard-working.

We are a small scale artisan bakery and cafe that specializes in naturally leavened breads and exceptional pastries. Our mission is to provide our community with unique innovative pastries and bread, and cuisine while educating our community about real food. We are family owned and operated.

Role Description

This is an entry-level baking position on the Bake Shop Production team.

An Associate Baker at Bella's is a hard-working and reliable teammate who is eager to support, learn, and develop new skills in the world of pastry making and sourdough baking. This team member works to close knowledge gaps, own and learn from their mistakes and seeks feedback from team members and management; we believe honest self reflection is the key to growing on our team. 

An Associate Baker will spend the first six weeks of training rotating in different areas of the business before placement. This will include areas of mixing, lamination, baking, table work, customer service, markets, food prep and logistics.

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Perform a supportive role to corresponding to Manager's needs
  • including but not limited to: thoroughly cleaning equipment, transferring and labeling products, interpreting recipes, folding dough, scoring loaves, fetching supplies, laminating pastry, shaping bread, preparing inclusions, preparing fillings, transporting flour
  • Work in an organized, cleanly, and helpful manner
  • Understand the business and consider the needs of the next shift
  • Work quickly towards and maintain a pace set more experienced staff
  • Shape 100s of breads and pastries in an attentive but efficient manner
  • Take direct instruction or feedback from Managers and other Bakers and make adjustments accordingly
  • Work to understand workload balancing, time management, and team pacing
  • Demonstrate ability to thoroughly and carefully clean and maintain all stations and equipment
  • Wash dishes and sheet trays
  • Wipe, sweep, sanitize, and mop surfaces
  • Demonstrate basic kitchen safety
  • Customer service and logistics
  • Identify and report issues proactively to direct Manager.

Prerequisites and Requirements: 

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Produce a valid ID and food handling certification
  • Prior kitchen experience is a plus
  • Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours
  • Demonstrate proficiency computing basic mathematical proportions
  • Maintain a positive attitude despite difficult working conditions (long hours, physical demands)
  • Demonstrate efficient time management and general reliability
  • Learn quickly, thoroughly, and demonstrate independence and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrate effective teamwork and communication skills
  • Must be willing to work customer service or markets
  • Must be able to reliably get to and from work
  • Must be willing and able to work long shifts and stay until all tasks are complete
  • Solve problems efficiently and ask questions when in doubt

Position Specifics :

  • Full-time or part-time positions available
  • Position hours are available Monday-Sunday, with a 4- to 5-day work week
  • Compensation begins at $16 hourly (during training)
  • Opportunities for growth available
  • Time off should be requested two weeks prior to planned absence
