Do you love California history and enjoy working with people and archival collections? Do you want to help make collection materials discoverable for researchers? Then this may be the job for you! Under the general supervision of the Supervising Librarian II, the incumbent inventories, processes, arranges, and describes archival collections comprising materials in all formats and following professional standards; writes finding aids to aid researchers in the discovery of collection materials; evaluates collections for historical research value and assesses potential use of collection materials for exhibits, research guides, and outreach; provides in-person and remote reference service and assists with requests for permission to use library materials; updates description in catalog records and finding aids to reflect modern terminology with a special emphasis on removing outdated language; evaluates materials for digitization and digitizes materials; and contributes to the State Library’s Digital First initiatives.

This position is headquartered in the City of Sacramento; however, the position may work a hybrid schedule where you work remotely and physically report to the office.
