The Aquatics Professional Intern will assist with the hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of aquatic student-staff while promoting participant safety and satisfaction. This role will provide leadership to the Lifeguarding and Aquatic Supervisor teams through well-planned staff in-services, informational meetings, and the development of American Red Cross curriculums and educational materials. Additionally, support will be provided during events, programs, and rentals as needed.

A successful candidate for this position should have:
- Experience planning and leading American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor certification or ability to attain it within the first 30 days of start date
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, AED certification or ability to attain it within the first 30 days of start date
- Demonstrate communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to think creatively and critically to identify and solve problems
- Customer service experience
Typical working hours are weekdays from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with some evening and weekend hours required. The position averages 30 hours per week.
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
Terminal appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended based on need and/or funding.
$22.00 HOURLY
This position is not eligible for housing, benefits, or health insurance.
Professional Internship
- The academic year internship is a limited-term position lasting nine months or up to a total of 1,040 hours.
- Employment is expected to run approximately from mid-August 2025 to mid-May 2026.
- Compensation is $22 per hour, based on an average of 30 hours per week.
- The intern will receive time off during university breaks (approximately four weeks, unpaid).
- Opportunities for professional development funding support may be available.
